The Radiation Vacation
Currently, I'm on a block at school called radiology. Basically, we are responsible for taking and reading all radiographs for the Veterinary School's patients, be it a dog, cat, horse, cow, rabbit, bird, or any other species you can imagine. We also do myelograms, and watch ultrasounds and CT scans...pretty cool. We affectionately call this block the "Radiation Vacation" or "Radiholiday" because it's extremely laid back, and the hours are fabulous (8-5 5 days a week, compared to the 6am-8pm shifts we pull almost 7 days a week on most other blocks...). It's been nice, and I've gotten to know some pretty cool people.
This week I'm actually on a real vacation! It's nice, because I haven't had any vacation since February. Although I didn't do all that much work back in March, during my 4 weeks in Raleigh, NC. I think the hardest I worked during that time was trying to pedal back to Cat and Tony's house during a hail storm (ahh, fond memories :) ). Today, I started off by sleeping in ('till 7!). Then I ate breakfst with Jim, and after he took off for work, I baked cookies. And then I baked some more cookies, and some more. It was great. I know exactly what I want to do with my life if this Vet thing doesn't work out for me. I will bake! Or maybe I can combine work and play...Since I want to be a surgeon, and surgeons are all about things being autoclaved, I could author the autoclave baking book...What a great coffee table book that would make.
Anyway, I digress. I met Jim for lunch (yum-LaMadelein) and then baked some more. Then I went for a bike ride and read a book. What a life!
Here are a couple of pictures of my cookies. The ones on the right were some of my favorites :)
