Graduation Day

Yesterday I graduated from Veterinary School. It was fabulous! My parents came from Germany, Jim's parents came from New Orleans, the weather was perfect and the ceremony was touching. On the one hand I am extremely happy--I have accomplished what I set out to do when I was 6 years old-to become a Veterinarian. I am happy that I will be going to Auburn for an internship, and will be able to continue to learn at such a wonderful institution. However, I am also very sad these days. The 75 classmates that graduated with me yesterday have become some of my best friends, and I know that I will probably never see some of them again, even though the Veterinary profession is quite small-the dean of LSU's school likes to point out that if you take all the veterinarians in the United States (in research, academia, and private practice) and put them in LSU's Tiger Stadium, you would still have over 20,000 empty seats. I hope that I will be able to keep in touch with them, and remember all the fun and difficult times that we shared together these last 4 years. Here are some pictures of yesterday's ceremony...

BIG Congratulations from Tony and me!!

I know that feeling, the end of one chapter and the beginning of another one. But you'll keep in touch with some of those friends for good, and others you'll see at conferences! That's what conferences are for, right?

We're so happy for you!
