Living in the woods....

Jim and I made it safely to Auburn. We've been pretty busy the last few days, packing, loading, driving, unpacking and reorganizing all of our stuff (and we have a lot of stuff!!). The house is really nice, and super quiet. I know Cat and Tony think they live in the woods, but, sorry to say ya'll--we have you beat. We are actually in the middle of the woods. When you get to the "main" street in front of the property all you see for miles are rolling hills with pastures full of horses and cows. It's very pretty here, and you can tell that we are in the middle of nowhere, because at night it is totally dark. All we can hear outside are random strange animal noises. We have a frog living on our front porch and have seen numerous skinks so far. Colbert is loving it, especially our big screened in front porch.

We're slowly getting the house organized, and are hoping to find the mountain bike trail tomorrow so we can go for our first ride in Alabama.

Here are a few pictures from the trip and of our house. More pictures to follow over the next few days....

A picture of the truck with Jim's car attached. It was quite long...Glad Jim was there to drive it :)

Nice! Your own little chunk of paradise.

I still say we live in the woods (between a state forest and a state park is, unequivocally, The Woods)... but y'all are in The Wilderness! Frogs at night make the best lullaby. And with frogs, there are always OWLS! (and snakes, but we won't go there)

Hallo Katsi und Jim,
Ihr habt ja sogar schon die Großvaterbilder an der Wand. Toll...
Gut sieht es aus.

Hi Cat, I totally agree with your comment! We did hear an owl last night...and I have been trying not to think about the "s" word too much, that's way too scary for me!

That does look nice. Just looking at the photos, you can almost hear the kudzu growing.

I remembered kudzu from my boy scouting days, and we've seen a bunch of it. Now where was the red clay? Is that Mississippi? Or south Alabama?
