More Match Day
Monday was a VERY exciting day for me. I matched at Auburn University for the coveted residency in small animal surgery. I am extremely happy about the match, I love being at Auburn right now, and I was really hoping to get the surgery residency here. I also love my current intern and resident mates, and, of course my 2 future surgery resident mates, Aylin and Niki. Here are a few pictures from our morning together--description to follow...
Niki and I were on a rotation together over thanksgiving which was, to date, the most fun rotation I have been on here in Auburn. Because we worked so well together, we called ourselves the "A Team." (we also did other really nerdy things such as giving each other sterile high-fives in the OR...we even had our own gang sign--NERDS!). Aylin, even though she was not part of the "A Team," calls herself "double A" (since her name is Aylin Atilla). Well, in honor of me getting the residency at Auburn, Aylin and Niki made t-shirts for the three of us, that were personalized with our names and had "Double A and the A Team" written on the back. They met me and the other interns the morning of the match and pulled out the t-shirts which we wore all day...(very professional...)
Last night was the senior banquet for all the fourth year veterinary medicine students who will be graduating in May. We went to it, and had a blast. I was extremely honored to receive the "Favorite Intern" award, which is voted on each year by the students of the senior class. What an honor!
